Lewisville residents have access to a number of parks and other recreational opportunities, including Lewisville Lake. The lake has three launch ramps, including one at Tower Bay Park. These parks and others throughout the city have playgrounds, picnic areas, ball fields and basketball courts. A band shell is located at Central Park. The Civil Circle Recreation Center and the Memorial Park Recreation Center offer weight rooms, racquetball courts, gymnasiums, activity rooms and classes in dance, fitness and crafts.

The city hosts a number of annual events to be enjoyed by the whole family. SummerBlast!, held at Lewisville Lake in June, features water sports demonstrations, sand castle building competitions, a Hot Rod reunion, Dachshund races, food and music. A fireworks show is held each July. In August, the Texas Open State Championship Chili Cook-off attracts over 250 cooks and thousands of people eager to taste every type of chili imaginable. The Dog Days of Summer dog show includes a variety of dog and owner contests. The Labor Day Rodeo draws thousands of people who cheer on the bull riders, the ropers and the barrel racers.

Lewisville is known in Denton County as the place for shopping and dining. The Vista Ridge Mall is the primary destination. Other things to see in Denton County include historic homes, the Courthouse on the Square Museum, the Hangar 10 Flying Museum and the Texas First Ladies Gown Collection at Texas Women’s University.

Lewisville residents also have access to all that the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex has to offer. The Cowboys, Stars, Mavericks and Rangers offer fans many opportunities to see their favorite professional athletes in action. The Texas Motor Speedway provides race fans with every type of car racing imaginable. It is the home of the NASCAR Winston 500. The Dallas County Parks and Open Spaces commission operates several preserves including Grapevine Springs Preserve, Elm Fork Preserve, Spring Creek Preserve, Joppa Preserve and Fish Creek Forest Preserve. Many of the preserves are ADA accessible.
